How to Define Dominance
- When the Regulatory Mechanism panel contains a negative regulator in addition to one or more positive regulators, Dominance will appear on the negative regulator panel.
- Click on Dominance to see the dropdown menu
- From the dropdown list, select the positive regulator(s) that the negative regulator is dominant over.
- The dropdown menu contains a convenient ALL option if the negative regulator is dominant over all positive regulators, or a NONE option if the negative regulator is dominant over none of the positive regulators.
In the above example, Hunting Permits is a negative regulator of Total Wolves. However, Hunting Permits is dominant only over Grey Wolves. This means, even when Hunting Permits are issued, Red Wolves continue to contribute to the Total Wolves population.
Fun fact: Red Wolves are one of the most endangered canids in the world.
