Knowledge Base Basics
Well annotated models are detailed with multiple references. The Knowledge Base is used to keep track of large amounts of information, and also add credibility to model results. Here is a brief overview of the Knowledge Base.
Knowledge Base
The Knowledge Base module is a dedicated space to aggregate multiple sources of data/information about a particular component into a single repository.
Based on a ‘wiki-like’ concept, the Knowledge Base is organized and integrated with a specific component’s regulatory mechanism
Accessing the Knowledge Base
The Knowledge Base can be accessed from the dedicated Knowledge Base page
Or as a panel within the Model page
Knowledge Base Organization
Description
This section is used to succinctly describe the component you are annotating. In order to allow others to definitively identify the component, it is good practice to briefly characterize the component using a standard identifier
Regulatory Mechanism Summary
For this section, provide a concise summary of the regulation of the component. Written as a statement, it should explain how each upstream regulators are related to each other and the component.
Upstream Regulators
This section lists all upstream regulators (positive and negative) used during the construction of the regulatory mechanism. It is continuously updated for any new regulators added or removed. Differing from the Regulatory Mechanism Summary, this section is more detailed and specific. Multiple sources of literature citations should be used in this section.
References
This section automatically lists all the references used in the previous sections in alphabetical order.
